\n\t\t\n\t\tBEST PHOTOGRAPHY LOCATIONS: MELBOURNE\n\t\t<\/a>\n\t<\/h2>\n\t

Following on from my recent blog post giving my opinions on the best wedding photography locations in Sydney<\/a>, a few of my upcoming Melbourne brides wanted my take on what Melbourne had to offer in terms of locations. So, here\u2019s my take on the best wedding photography locations in the city that also serves the best coffee in Australia\u2026<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Parliament House<\/b><\/p>\n

Columns really are my thing. Parliament House of Victoria is my favourite place to shoot in Melbourne for its enviable, white, stone columns and sweeping stairs that any Sydney bride (and her photographer) would die for. It really is a magnificent and classically designed building suited to the most breathtaking and glamourous weddings. There is also some great photo opportunities outside Hotel Windsor, and down a few of the side streets close by (pictured below) and if you’re peckish, stop by for the best pasta in town at Pellegrini’s.<\/p>\n

Parliment House is conveniently located on the corner of Spring and Bourke streets which is great if your reception is nearby, but being in the centre of town, parking can be hard. If at all possible, get your photographer to travel with you. This spot can also be busy with lots of foot traffic, but the wait is worth it for key images.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\"S3\n\t\t\t\t\"S111\"\n\t\t\t\t\"S10\"\n\t\t\t\t\"R176\"\n\t\t\t\t\"S30\"\n\t\t\t\t\"S29\"\n\t\t\t\t\"S107\"\n\t\t\t\t\"S101\"\n\t\t\t\t\"S27\"\n\t

Victoria Barracks<\/b><\/p>\n

Victoria Barracks is a beautiful bluestone building conveniently located on St Kilda Road just south of the National Gallery of Victoria. If you\u2019re planning an autumn or early winter wedding, the vines that stretch along the bluestone walls will have turned an amazing gold and red which will really add some warmth to your images (as well as bringing luck and warding off evil spirits if you\u2019re into that kind of thing). Traffic here is easier than CBD locations such as Parliament House so you should be able to get a carpark out front. It is also close to inner southern suburb wedding venues like Metropolis.<\/p>\n

To use this venue,\u00a0apply for a\u00a0free permit\u00a0(through the Department of Defence)\u00a0which involves getting the names and addresses of everyone attending, but it\u2019s easy enough\u00a0and worth the effort to not risk a fine. This is a great option for greenery, especially if paired with the Shrine of Remembrance.<\/p>\n

Shrine of Remembrance<\/b><\/p>\n

Just across the road from the Victoria Barracks is the Shrine of Remembrance. Pairing these two great locations will give your wedding images a great mix of bluestone buildings and manicured tree lined avenues. The Shrine of Remembrance also allows for a great wedding car image \u2013 a very regal option.<\/p>\n

Niagara Lane<\/b><\/p>\n

When everyone thinks of laneways in\u00a0Melbourne\u00a0they think of Hosier Lane in the heart of Melbourne CBD, but\u00a0we find it too overbearing,\u00a0bright and always full of people. Instead we love Niagara Lane. It is a\u00a0cobbled laneway that boasts early nineteenth century warehouses and colourful street art in the offshoot lanes.\u00a0The beautiful heritage redbrick buildings, complete with original pulleys and hooks\u00a0add character to your wedding images without the crowds of Hosier Lane.\u00a0Also just a short walk away you\u2019ll come across Melbourne GPO, which has beautiful white stone arched walkways.Definitely get your photographer to travel with you for this spot.<\/p>\n

University of Melbourne (Quad)<\/b><\/p>\n

The picturesque grounds\u00a0and\u00a0period\u00a0architecture\u00a0of the University of Melbourne\u00a0are\u00a0hard to beat.\u00a0Anyone is able to arrange for a\u00a0permit\u00a0but\u00a0they are\u00a0in high demand and come at a fee –\u00a0$473 (including GST) for external clients and $264 (including GST) for current and former staff and students of the University. Also keep in mind that due to the large number of people on campus, permits\u00a0are not\u00a0issued on\u00a0weekdays or on Saturdays and Sundays when key University events (such as Graduations, Open Day) are taking place.\u00a0To apply you\u2019ll need to fill out the permit on their website.<\/a><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\"cmus-MelbourneUniversity-OldQuad_021\"\n\t\t\t\t\"cmus-MelbourneUniversity-OldQuad_030\n\t

Labassa\u00a0Mansion<\/b><\/p>\n

Labassa is an outstanding Victorian era mansion with opulent architectural features. Listed as one of the national trusts, the Labassa is regarded as a must visit spot in Caulfield, but apart from that, it is also one of the most sought-after wedding photo locations in Melbourne. The grand mansion features a central staircase which is excellent for wedding photos. However, being a National Trust with high popularity, the permit fee is about $800 for one hour.<\/p>\n

Australian\u00a0Centre\u00a0for Contemporary Art<\/b><\/p>\n

If you want a big focus on your bridal cars, you can\u2019t go past the ACCA.\u00a0It is well located just minutes from the CBD in Melbourne\u2019s Arts Precinct in Southbank and is very close to Victoria Barracks.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\"Australian\u00a0Centre\u00a0for\n\t
